I worked my way aroung the cache bug and now I have an even bigger prob.
For some reason my cpu will only boot at 100mhz fsb!??!!? Whenever I try to boot at even stock speed, I get a black screen w/ no beeps. Does this indicate that certain bridges are shorted? If so do you know of any good explanations of all the bridges on the XP?

Thanks for all your help guys I really appreciate it.

I tried a different mobo.:(
I'll check out your guide though.

is it possible that your trying to boot at a higher multi? boot and 100 and go into the bios and make sure your at default multi. if the multi is set higher you may be trying to boot at a speed that is too much for your chip.

Thanks for the responses.
Here's what I've done:
I've cleaned of the entire chip w/ a toothbrush and alcohol.
I've completely removed the defogger paint and it boots at the correct multi.
I've tried different mobo, ram, vid card, etc...

Keep the ideas coming. Thanks!

What mobo are you running? Most newer boards have a jumper that determines whether the FSB is supposed to be 100 or 133.

My mobo is jumperless (KR7A).
I was running fine and all of a sudden it locked and I had to clear the cmos to boot and now it only boots at 1250 (100x12.5)
