Hey guys, I'm looking to build my first pc and I've been researching parts and all that and was wondering what you guys think because you actually know your stuff. I'm going for a fairly strong pc that I can game with for a decent amount of time (without having to keep upgrading).

Here is what I was looking into:

-Lian Li PC-K62 Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112239
-EVGA gtx 460 se (fermi)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130591
-Corsair 750W Psu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006
-2x 4gb (2x2gb XMS3 Corsair 1600)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145260
-Western Digital Caviar Black 1tb 7200rpm Hdd
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533
-Liteon dvd burner
-Coolmaster hyper 212+
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

Now here is where I'm most unsure on what to go with, the CPU and MOBO.

Here is what I was thinking for the Motherboards:

-ASUS Sabertoon x58
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665

-ASUS P7P55D-E
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131620

As for CPUs:

-Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211

-Intel Core i7-870 Lynnfield 2.93GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115213

Now, the x58 and i7-950 come in a bundle on newegg and the p55 and i7-870 in another bundle. This doesn't necessarily mean I only have these two options. They are just considerations. Or is it not necessary for me to go with the i7 and just stick with i5. If so, what mobo do you recommend?

ANY input at all would be much appreciated. I am an absolute noob at this and am just learning. I've spent a good amount of time looking stuff up but I'd like to get input from you guys since you know your stuff and are the experts :) THANKS!

If you are primarily gaming, Id suggest going w/ i5-750 and with the money savings youll have, get a better video card. You really dont need i7 unless you encode, fold, serious benchmarking, stuff like that.

If you choose to go i7, id go w/ the X58 platform personally. Also, 750w PSU would be overkill. Unless theres a small price difference, you could also save a little there going w/ the Corsair 650w to put towards a better card.

Also remember that if you go X58, you are going to want to get 3x2gb kit not 2x2gb as X58 uses tri-memory channels instead of dual like the P55 chipset.

Thank you very much for the reply. I looked more into the i7 vs i5 and I'm going to go with the i5-750 now. Along with that I guess maybe an ASUS P7P55D or EVGA p55 ftw mobo.
