I was watching some of the scores on the benchmark ticker page for 3dmark (yes I know that is insane) and I happened to see a cpu called the 990x listed! Since they are not for sale yet, I guess it was some intel guy flexing his muscles? I should have taken a screenshot!

there are many out and around, beta testers. would love to have my hands on one, but guess we all would.

hah no doubt.. I did a search under the 3dmark06 listings and there are several 990 entries.. some in the mid 5ghz range!

What socket are these processors going to be on? I figure they would be on 1366 (to match the other 9-series) but it would be strange to keep making new processors with Intel's new socket SB release. Are they just never getting released but were pushed out?

They're a slightly better binned 980x with a 1x higher stock multi.
Nothing new, same core stepping and such.
Same socket, same mobos, no bios update needed.

It's like a 920 vs 930.
