Test with no RAM sinks?

I'm going to try oven fixing a card, and was wondering if it would be okay to test the card is a computer without the ramsinks installed? I would run it only long enough to see if there was ANY video at all.

It may help to know what video card it is, but I think it should be fine. The memory puts out very low heat, even when fully loaded. At idle, it should be fine.

Thanks. The card is a 512mb 4850. Got it for free (was already dead) so I figured I'd try the oven trick... fingers crossed

Apparently its oven fixed... made it through 3dmark06 so that's good enough for me. Sweet.
