Hi well firstly, merry Christmas to you all, now today I got my i5-2500k, and in a few days time I will be purchasing a gtx 580 evga card. I currently have a corsair 650w tx psu, I want to know if this will be enough to power the 580. From what I have read it should be fine, but making sure.

Yes. My HX 650 powers an older Nehalem oc'd at 4ghz 24/7 with my GTX 580. You will have no issues. You'd be lucky to hit 500W full load.. (I would almost think it'd be near impossible.. lol).

Yep, I wouldn't go adding a second one but you should be fine. When I had a single 580 it pulled around 400W under 100% load (for the full system, according to kill-a-watt)
