Greetings, Folders!
I was thinking of building 2600K folding rig, and I need to consider according to how much ppd can i expect from it?
- it will be run with Antec H2O 920 wc kit
- I plan to OC it to about 4500 MHz, so from your experience, will every chip reach that frequency? how hot does it run?
- I plan to run it in v7 client in windows ( even though ive heard its the worst option in terms of ppd, its much more convinient than v6 in windows, or anything in linux. -- There is a small chance that i'll run it in ubuntu WM from Windows 7).

PPD?

i would suggest scrapping the antec all in one cooler. Better to safe than sorry if you are folding 24/7. Get a noctua or phanteks ph-tc14pe. less/pretty much no chance of it packing in on you VS the cooler you suggested.

You will be able to hit 4.5 ghz EASY on a 2600k. Some people can hit that on stock volts. also with a noctua/phanteks it will run cool as. Doubt it will break 60c @ load providing on the volts.

Dont know anything about the PPD, maybe someone else can have some input there

xander89, thanks for the info!
Still the main question is ppd.
One more detail: ambient temp is going to be 27-30C.

I'm running v7 in a Win 7/VM/Ubuntu config and find that ppd varies depending on the WU. At 4.7(air) and 4.8 Ghz(water) I'm getting ~ 30,000 ppd on p7610 but only ~ 17,000 ppd on p7611. I have had nothing but a4 WUs over the last few days, which are low producers compared to a3 WUs. I'm considering changing to v6.34 which gets mostly, if not exclusively, a3 WUs. A3s averabe about 36,000 ppd.

I uninstalled v7 on the 4.7 GHz rig and installed 6.34 in the same Ubuntu 12.04 VM, and got an a3 WU on the first try. So I have v6.34 running on a 2600K @ 4.7 GHz doing this:

Project ID: 6097
Core: GRO-A3

Name: CR-VM 12.04 v6.34

Avg. Time / Frame : 00:05:56 - 37,323.0 PPD

All Time / Frame : 00:05:56 - 37,179.4 PPD
Eff. Time / Frame : 00:06:42 - 31,103.9 PPD

While v7 on a 2600K @ 4.8 GHz in an 11.10 VM is doing this:

Project ID: 7611
Core: GRO-A4
Credit: 788
Frames: 100

Name: HT-PC 11.10 Slot 00
Path: 192.168.1.113-36330
Number of Frames Observed: 208

Min. Time / Frame : 00:04:12 - 19,141.1 PPD
Avg. Time / Frame : 00:04:27 - 17,551.0 PPD
Cur. Time / Frame : 00:04:15 - 18,765.3 PPD
R3F. Time / Frame : 00:04:22 - 18,043.3 PPD
All Time / Frame : 00:04:21 - 18,143.6 PPD
Eff. Time / Frame : 00:04:25 - 17,748.0 PPD

Windows is going to be worse. I'll be uninstalling v7 when the WU finishes.

Alright, thanks for the analysis!
The gap in ppd between v6.34 in Ubuntu and v7 in Windows is quite significant. But i really hate the inconvinience of this console clients in Linux (can see the process only from command line, no easy pause options, no ppd indicated). How did you get this log:
"Project ID: 6097

Xander will you be joining us for the 10 day folding race?

All the info you need is right there in the << Race Info >> #1 post, and we could certainly use your help.

Just noticed today that the Russian team (TSC!) is currently making 500,000 more points per day than we are!

Earlier this Spring, we were making 500,000 more than they were.
