Does anyone use serial cables anymore? If so, for what? I use a serial cable to connect to my microserver/managed hub at 9600 baud:D

Technically, everybody with a modern system using Serial ATA uses serial cables :) I'm going to assume you mean old DE-15 stuff, though. I have recently used a USB-to-DE-9 adapter for a serial console for some AMD Geode systems. I (rarely) use one for my old LEGO Mindstorms infrared block (I got the thing way back in the days of Windows 98 and having to download special drivers for USB hardware).

when feeling around in the back of the case when i cant see, i end up trying to plug my vga into it. thats about as useful as it gets for me -.-
