Hey everyone! First post here and looking for advice on a new PC I'm planning on building soon. I used to build PCs back, well must have been 12 year or so ago since my last one. So needless to say I'm quite out of the loop! Its going to be a mostly gaming/movie watching PC. Don't really have a budget in mind but If i can keep it around $1500 as a starting point I'll be happy with that. I'm planning on picking away at this system adding new components every few weeks or so (most likely every pay day order something for it). So my main focus is to just get it started and running.

Off this site that's about $1212 atm so that leave me around $300 (of course if its worth it I'd be willing to go over that a bit)

These are the components that I have picked out so far. Any input or suggestions on changes that would be better would be appreciated. Some other questions I have are should I go with water cooling? If so what would be a good cooler to go in the case I have picked out? What are some good quiet fans without lights that would go good with that case.

Again any input will be appreciated!

Are you partial to AMD or nVidia? What games will you be playing aswell?

Don't really have preference I've used both in the past and they both did the job (tho if one is just plain better now let me know). FPS's, Action, Adventure, RPGs, MMOs ect.

I just googled eyefinity that's nuts, I wants it, but not right now lol.

Alright, I'll just stick to the basics for now man :)

For an Intel platform I would suggest this:

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-4770...?ie=UTF8&qid=1388282714&sr=8-1&keywords=4770k

http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Inte..._6?ie=UTF8&qid=1388282791&sr=8-6&keywords=z87

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Venge...e=UTF8&qid=1388283003&sr=8-2&keywords=8gb+ram

http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Rade...ie=UTF8&qid=1388283196&sr=8-5&keywords=r9+270

The 4770k is probably way overkill for gaming and movie watching, however it will last you a very long time. The motherboard isnt anything special, but it does allow you to add another GPU in later if you need a little more power. For RAM, I linked you to 8GB RAM from Corsiar. I have that exact same RAM and hasn't failed me yet. 8GB should be more than enough for gaming, even if you plan on running BF4. For a GPU (your video card, don't know if they had video cards 10 years ago :p) I linked a R9 270X, this card runs BF4 on ultra at 1080p at over 60 FPS. This card should last a good time into the future. That's the main stuff. So far the total is $806. Did you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, or OS?

ATM I'm just looking to get a tower and have it running (with the integrated video/sound ect ect off the mobo). I'll add video card(s), a storage drive, sound card, whatever else(?) later. I'll need OS but I'm staying away from windows 8 unless there is some crazy amazing reason to get it. Keyboard I'm open to suggestions, I have a decent Razer Mouse atm that works pretty good for me. The case I'm getting is a Micro atx case, pretty sure the mobo you linked won't fit in that. for a monitor I have a BenQ XL2420TE ordered (got it on sale for $100 off).

For the mobo, perhaps this would work:

And for everyhting else, I've come up with this:

I just got that keyboard today and it is the best things my hands have ever touched, honestly. It's compact, lights up blue and just all around awesome. For a CPU cooler, someone else is going to help you as I have only ever used a Hyper 212 Evo and have no idea what the bets coolers are out there now. Hopefully I was some help to you :)

I currently have Windows 8.1 and its not that bad. I actually perfer it over Windows 7. Windows 8.1 comes with a start button if you even want to call it that. It's better by a few FPS in games aswell and a few new features I find myself using quite alot.

Alright thanks for the info, just looked at some reviews for that keyboard and they seem to be quite positive. I've never used a mechcanical keyboard before not sure which keys to go for could get blues and end up hating it.
