Skyrim is crashing to desktop. It was running fine yesterday. Turned the PC off for the night, turned it back on today and tried to launch skyrim. Crashes right after the bethesda logo.

I have about 40 mods installed. How do I fully uninstall skyrim and all my mods (not my saved games though) and then reinstall vanilla skyrim? Reinstalling skyrim I can figure out, I mean... but how do I fully wipe it?

Its probably a mod

Your best bet is probably to disable half the mods each time and test.

So like disable half if it still crashes, half again (or 1/4th total).
(So once you find the half its in keep disabling half of those till you get to one)

I find that WAY WAY WAY easier than disabling one at a time, which is almost what your always told.
