I have and A7V266 Asus motherboard and an AMD XP 1900 chip if i set the CPU speed in the bios at any other setting thatn manual it hangs right now in manual it is reading 1.2 Gig and it is a 1.6 chip. i know its not the mobo i just had a 1800+ chip and it read fine. Any help please THX!

When you replaced your chip, you should reset the BIOS and let the mobo detect what it can by default. You should start with the BIOS's 'safe' parameters (as opposed to 'turbo' settings).

If you haven't physically unlocked the chip, the mobo will force the correct multiplier--you won't be able to set it yourself.

If you have attempted an unlock, you may not have completed it all correctly (or have a short).
