So what do you think?

I love Intel and if i get intel i am going to go with nvidia

Why do you wish to go with nvidia if your intel? I understand the intel but are you biased against AMD for some reason?

better off with one gtx580. more ram+smoother play with a single card

Where did you hear that?
Well I mean its partially true. But you'll get more power in amd for a lower price generally.

You can overclock it to that in about 30 seconds. No point in wasting money. AMD drivers have increased considerably. I suggest you wait until the 12th to buy because thats the definitive time when bulldozer comes out according to microcenter. It'll push down other prices and give you options.

We don't know. It isn't out yet and we can't confirm if the scant 'leaked benchmarks' are legit. According to those benchmarks it is slightly better or the same at most things, worse at a few, and twice as good at a couple (big floating points, etc).

As far as a better 580

This guy is the current best overclocker and best cooled out of the box overall. You pay more for more card.

It will run quieter and cooler due to the bigger fans and cooler but also it is 3 slot so keep that in mind as it may have some effect depending on your motherboard and case choices.

Don't do fanboyism. It doesn't offer anything to benefit and a lot to lose.

In the current generation, at your price point, AMD has NVIDIA beat. Single card, it's close. But when you go dual, AMD just scales better. Dual 6970s beats dual 580s for MUCH less money.

This is what I think you should go. It's about $100 less then your original build, I think you should put that in savings. When you have another $400, get another 6970 Lightening, and you'll be golden. Also has a bigger PSU, improved version of that cooler, slightly better motherboard, and a better case. The four fans are to mount on the side panel of the HAF932 (yes, all of them). The MSI Lightening has a LOT of overclocking features on the card, and massive airflow will allow you to push even more out of it, it's already clocked pretty high.

I know that. I also know that if you're going to spend extra money on a card that clocks better, on air, and runs quieter, those triple slot cards are very good.

And yes Nvidia is much worse than ATi for $/perf atm.

Double 580s were never mentioned btw.
