I just took notice of an application that appears to run in the background called Acresso Software Manager. Is this a W7 installed utility or is it a slimy bug I picked up from somewhere? How is it uninstalled?

"As you have discovered, Acresso Software Manager is part of PaperPort.

If you want to get rid of it entirely, uninstall the first 3 programs you mentioned, leaving MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser.

If you want to shut down Acresso Software Manager only, you might look in a couple of places to see if it is started independently.

Download and install Sysinternals Autoruns program and look for it there.

Check in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and see if it is a service set to run automatically."
