Here's what came in my Lenovo Y50 (with Haswel I7-4710HQ processor.)

Since there is only one stick at 8GB and I want to go to 16GB I have the choice to add one 8GB stick or replace with two 8GB sticks. Can I match timings with the existing stick operating as:

Would there be a benefit from selecting CAS 9 RAM? I'd have to replace both in that case.

I don't think that overclocking is an issue. I haven't been in the BIOS yet but I don't expect to find any overclocking options when I do.

Thanks!

I doubt you will find one more similar stick. It's rated 1600 11-11-11 so CL9 will be faster but most standard kits will be 1600 C11 as you probably also need 1.35V. I recommend Kingston HyperX Impact or G.Skill Ripjaws. Both brands have 1600 C9 , 1866 C10, 2133 C11 kits and all of them can be found in similar price. I made only one review of HyperX Impact 1600 but Impact 1866 or Ripjaws 1866/2133 were working fine on couple of laptops at work.
Some new Lenovo are working only with 1.35V memory so be sure it's DDR3L , not standard 1.5V memory.

These Ripjaws should be fine. For about $10 more is 1866 C10 1.35V and about $20 more is 2133 C11 1.35V. In Poland I have better prices on Kingston Impact series but I can't find them on newegg cheaper than G.Skill.

RipJaws are about $15 US more due to different discounts (10% vs. 15%)

Is going to 1866/CAS 10 vs 1600/CAS 9 going to provide a speedup? (In a laptop where I have no control over BIOS settings.)

thanks,
