Hi guys,

I use virtual clone drive to run a bunch of software so that I can leave the discs in a nice safe wallet in my bottom drawer.
I've recently re-installed AOE2 to play with a buddy online but the game will not work without the disc inserted, I have the iso properly loaded but the game still states please insert correct disc.
Any ideas what I doing wrong?

Regards

Diablo 2 had an issue like that when trying to run without a physical CD in a physical ODD. To get D2 to work, some files from the CD/.iso had to saved into the install directory. IIRC, they were .mpq files that stored the game's data, music, and movie files.

So, something like that may have to be done with AoE2.

did you update the game to the last patch they had available, I think they removed the requirement to have a disc with the last patch they had. Can't remember.

you could use a No-CD patch; that should hopefully get rid of the problem lol.
I use it on some of my where loading up the CD is just annoying.
You might need to keep the original exe around though for updates to work
