Hello Clockers,

I am well aware of the fact that most of you might already be aware of what i am about to say but still let me detail my story a bit.

Currently i own an Asus Z170 extreme3 motherboard with Intel core i7 6700 and have installed HIS AMD HD 6850 Graphic card on it. It was working fine for a year, till i got Split screen issue out of nowhere. The matter from there on went worse to worst. Immediately afterward my whole screen went Blue (NOT a BSOD But a simple plain blue color), Keyboard froze. I uninstalled the Driver from device manager after logging into "Safe Boot with Networking"

I also downloaded Both the Crimson edition beta and the plain old Catalyst Link

after uninstalling the AMD graphics card drivers, the Adapter switched to Standard VGA and i logged in normally.

I proceeded with installing just catalyst software suite, Installed properly, No glitch during installation

It asked for a reboot after which i was presented with
Problem.jpg

Process repeat. Login Safe boot, uninstall AMD, login via Standard VGA, then tried installing "non WHQL" Crimson edition beta. Same result.

So far, both the drivers provided by AMD has been a failure.

Apart from just installing, uninstalling and reinstalling the Drivers, i also tried Regedit tweaks,

i found one http://www.overclockers.com/forums/...t-Control-Center-crashing-Read-on-for-answers

Tried it. No result. i still get the horizontal lines as shown in the screenshot above and after logging in my display crashes.

You should use DDU between installations to clean all bits left behind by the Catalyst installer. Personally the older 11.4 or 11.5 is one of the best for that card in Win7 with that old of a card you're not gaming are you?

oops forgot to mention, i used Guru3d DDU in safe mode for uninstallations and also used the AMD cleanuputility provided by AMD, i have double checked for residues with CC cleaner, but those two drivers are the root cause of the problems. that i am sure of.

Yea not into latest games :chair:

umm i cant find any old drivers on AMD, though on filehippo its 14.12 and its not working either.

What OS are you using? If W7, here's the 16.2 Beta. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows 7 - 64 I have the install file for the 13.5 Beta Catalyst. I can probably email it. And 14.9 Beta Catalyst drivers here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/beta-release-notes

And 15.1 http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx#

And finally, 14.4, among others. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy/previous?product=legacy3&os=Windows 7 - 64

AMD has them, they just aren't on the front page anymore. And some of them are in a mason jar on Funk and Wagnall's porch, but they're there. Bonus points for getting the Johnny Carson reference. LOL

If you're getting the same results from all the drivers then your card is toast. I have an old 3870x2 here that does the exact same thing

But the card is recognized as you can see in the GPUz screenshot, right now downloading 14.9.2 beta will update on the results.

ok can someone please tell me what the hell is going on???
i installed the crimson beta version (the latest drivers from AMD site)

Pretty sure it falls under my last post. I think the card is broken
