Forbes said:
. . . The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based processor designer reported earnings excluding items of of $110 million, or 15 cents a share on sales of $1.69 billion.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters were expecting earnings excluding items of $78.4 million, or 10 cents a share, on sales of $1.65 billion.

Gross margins came in at 45%, compared to the 44.7% investors had penciled in.

During the year-ago quarter, AMD reported earnings excluding items of $108 million, or 15 cents a share, on sales of $1.62 billion . . .

A few other highlights:

1)AMD had $97M net income compared to $118M net loss this quarter last year.
2)35% revenue increase q over q in mobile business.
3)More than 60% increase in APU shipments q over q.
4)AMD reports that essentially if Llano yields had been better, 3rd quarter would have been even stronger.

And instead of following up a solid jab (Llano) with a nice uppercut, AMD danced around the ring (Bulldozer).

Ed Stroligo used to write most articles for overclockers.com and he would have dissected the AMD info if he were still writing today. It's too bad that he doesn't write any more AFAIK, it would have been a good read.

It's difficult to speculate on its stock price which is what I'm guessing this thread is about? We all have an interest in AMD being strong so that we could reap the benefits of lower CPU prices.

If only AMD could have bought ATI for stock instead of for cash, things would have turned out so much different financially.

P.S. I love the "if yields had been better, 3rd quarter would have been even stronger" line - classic report spin. :)
