[SOLVED] ASRock 990FX Extreme4 & RAM

Hey guys, I'm lookin for someone who has my board thats runnin a faster ram than 1600. Im runnin King's HyperX 1600 but wanted some faster ram for my 8350 I just picked up. ASRock list's some ram but I cant even find it .... lol Anyhow Im lookin for peeps that have faster ram workin that may not be listed on there ram supported list, don't care wich manufacturer, I'm lookin for at least 1833 ram kits 2133 even better. I know some will work even tho its not listed on there supported list. I'm very strapped for cash like most and cant buy just to see if it works. O and lookin for rated speeds, nother words if your ram is 1333 rated and your clocked at 1600 thats an overclock, Im lookin for it starting at 18 or 21, would be very happy at 1833 tho. Ive gotta run my kingston at 1333, Ive got great clocks but this stuff for the life of me will not go past, every time I try for 1600 it juist craps out. Any help appreciated and Thanks. Splash :bang head [SOLVED] I ended up getting some G.Skill Sniper 2133 RAM]

Well Splash i no AMD Expert, but from checking around on some sites plus the Net i came up with this for you! I would humbly suggest you have them checked out before you buy any. But as you see on Newegg it say's it supports your Mobo type 990FX and i have checked else where it say's your CPU as well. ;)

If you click on the link for G-Skill you will see a 990fx AM3+ board linked to the Ram.

Thx bro I'll check out. Ya I just couldnt find what was on ASRock's list, and they where listing all small chit. So any leads helpful, I can call manufactuer of ram u suggested and ask so its a start.

That would be a good move before you buy anything good luck see you again. AJ.

I just had a fun deal with this! If you have 2 sticks, They are probably side by side and working in single mode. Put them in dual channel mode, Like Ram in Slot 1 and 3. I could not post past 1600 with gskill 2133 ram. I had to move one over and finally it would work. This might help you get 1866 or so out of them.

Here's the GSkills http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231519

Splashdown, I wouldn't worry to much about incompatibility just because the ram isn't on ASRock's QVC list. That list represents only those sticks that the ASRock tech team has actually tested and confirmed to work. It does not represent in any fashion all the ram that will be compatible with your motherboard. With fairly rare exception, all major brand ram is compatible with all major brand motherboards. Now, if you get up into the extreme high frequency range end of ram technology it would be more important to confirm that ram will be compatible with your board but up through 1866 mhz I don't think it will be a problem.

you will have the same issue with crucial ram, it's darn good 1600 ram but your not going much higher.
none of my ram is on any of my boards qvl, but i have no issues.
