asus z97-ar only display out of hdmi... help

So normally I can figure it out buy I'm not too familiar with the new uefi bios asus uses... so I assembled my new motherboard and installed it yesterday

Specs:
Asus z97-ar
8gigs 2400 mzh patriot viper ram
4790k
Evo 212 cooler
xfx 280x r9

Right now I have a 2 monitor setup on plugged in to the video card (will not display) the other plugged into the hdmi port on motherboard (displays).

I want my default to be my graphics card but every time I set it as such the hdmi monitor comes on rather than the dvi.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is the default graphics device set to PCIe?

nm figured it out... didn't have my power cables fully seated ... que jeopardy fail music.
