Well,

According to AMDs latest roadmaps, which might I add that they've been updating every week now for the past month! is that Athlon will live and die with the current 266MHz Bus.

The Barton is scheduled to have 512KB L2 Cache with possible SSE2 instuctions. Yes, there is a 90% chance that SSE2 will be in the Barton since AMD will use this to keep the performance rating on par with 533MHz Bus Pentium4s.

Palomino:
XP1500+, XP1600+, XP1700+, XP1800+, XP1900+, XP2000+, XP2100+ and XP2200+

Thoroughbred:
XP1700+, XP1800+, XP1900+, XP2000+, XP2100+, XP2200+, XP2300+, XP2400+, XP2500+, and XP2600+ (and Possible XP2800+)

Barton:
XP2500+, XP2600+, XP2700+, XP2800+, XP2900+, and XP3000+

Now, AMD believes that keeping the current 266MHz Bus will be crucial in the value segment while the Clawhammer starts a fresh new interface sporting 400MHz Bus operations. It seems pointless now for AMD to introduce 333MHz Bus which would be only to fade away anyway as soon as Clawhammer is introduced.

I have read on news groups that 17.5X and 18X multipliers are found on Palominos/Tbreds/Bartons. AMD just has to make use of them.

Now now, the Athlon processor (XP series) will not die any time soon. Infact, AMD plans to produce additional steppings well into 2003. Also, now that AthlonXP becomes value, AMD will most likely lower prices and introduce even higher clocked models as they come.

Barton has no sign of retail release till Clawhammer (October 2002).

DDR400 (PC3200) will be the last official DDR advancement for the AthlonXP. With a ratio 4/6 (BUS/MEM), the AthlonXP should really zip along. Something a little funny, AMD will introduce DDR400 with the Barton core and spread huge amounts of hype upon this advancement. Could we be looking at a new Athlon name for the Barton core??

Also, A good friend of mine said that people looking into the Tbred processor for overclocking reasons should wait four months before jumping the gun. Appearently, AMD has several whole series of steppings planned to improve the quality of the .13M core design.

The Athlon XP1900+ bred can already hit 2GHz on air, so it will be interesting to see how high AMD can push the pins on the waffer:D
