Hey guys,

First post for me here on OCF :)

I could use a little help choosing Ram for my new build, atm i have (or wil get) the following components:

CPU : I7-950
Mobo : Asus P6T SE (didn't order it yet, want to get this along with my Ram)
Ram : Yet to choose - going for 3x2Gb trikit
GPU : Nvidia 8800 GT 512 (prolly will upgrade this as well to a GTX 460 or 470 if i have money left, im not a hardcore gamer)
PSU : Zalman 600W
Case : Lion Li Alu servercase
Coolers : CPU cooler Zalman 9700 and the coolers in the case are also Zalman fans (6 in total appart from the PSU fans)
OS : Windows 7 X64 Ultimate

I'm not a hardcore overclocker, i tend to push my CPU just for that little bit extra juice.
For example i have my E6850 3,0Ghz Running on 3,56Ghz for the last 3 years, i know it can go further but i just like to be in the safezone.

About the rams, im going crazy with all the options out there and the price difference of those things.
Also i've read in guides and threats that CL7 Rams are the best but anyway here's my options for now :

1600 Mhz :
Kingston HyperX 6 GB DDR3-1600 KHX12800D3K3 Tri-Kit CL9 9-9-27 Euro 92,90 ($ 126,87)
GeIL 6 GB DDR3-1600 Black DragonTri-Kit GB36GB1600C8TC CL8 8-8-? Euro 114,90 ($ 156,80)
OCZ 6 GB DDR3-1600 Tri-Kit OCZ3T1600LV6GK, Titanium Edition CL7 8-8-? Euro 142,90 ($ 195,02)
OCZ 6 GB DDR3-1600 Tri-Kit OCZ3X1600R2LV6GK CL8 8-8-24 Euro 144,90 ($ 197,74)
GeIL 6 GB DDR3-1600 Tri-Kit GUP36GB1600C7TC, Ultra+ CL7 7-7-24 Euro 227,90 ($ 311,02)

All the cheaper CL7 7-7-24 are sold out, price is about euro 160 (= $ 218,35)

1800Mhz :
Kingston HyperX 6 GB DDR3-1800 Tri-Kit KHX14400D3T1K3/6GX CL9 9-9-27 Euro 122,90 ($ 167,72)

Please your thoughts about the memory i should choose, if i spend more than 150 euros (= $ 204) i go over budget so i pref not to.
If its the case that a CL7 or another more expensive Ram is Waaaay better i guess i just have to spend some more.

My goal with the new i7 is to cranck it up to 3,8 or maybe even 4Ghz if it allowes me with the hardware i have.
Also i need to get the rest of the stuff before end of the month as my work is paying most of the expenses (not all sadly otherwise choosing wouldnt be hard) and they need the receits.

In advance thanks for reading this.

Cheers !

Do you have access to G.Skill? Post a link to the site you plan on purchasing your components from.

For some reason the shops in my country (the netherlands) don't sell Gskill

These are the 2 shops i can choose from (i already selected the memory part so it should redirect you directly to the right part of the page):

Cheers !

PS : Damn they do have Gskill but only in 1333 :

G.Skill 4 GB DDR3-1333 Kit (Light-Retail, F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH, Ripjaws-Serie) CL7 7-7-21 Euro 76,90 ($ 104,95)

But this a 4Gb set, i guess i could buy 2 of these (for $ 208) and only use 3 modules or something ?

You'd be wasting your money purchasing the higher priced 7-7-7-20 over the 7-8-7-20. You'd never notice the difference between a tRCD (RAS# to CAS# Delay) of 7 compared to 8.
