that's the budget for my machine cept I salvaged an old monitor

altho im not a p4 guy that looks liek a screamen system also.mabeu another route to consider as intel can be as cheap as amd nowdays.

ya still dont wanna run benches against me tho :D lol jk dude

Thank you both for the replies, i changed the cpu to the 2400+ as recommended, but my question is, how well does the radeon 9500 pro overclock when compared to a good ti4200? Because a good ti4200 hould be able to hit Ti4600 speeds, will the 9500 pro compare? Also, what would be a descent hsf for overclocking but fairly quiet as well?

Thermalright SLK-800 is the best at the moment.id just stick the largest fan possable on it and vary the voltage to control speed.

the video card? to me the 2 are about even 9500pro-4600 ,between these to its just a matter of ati or nvidia.
but the 4200 is a great card and and for the $$$ the best choice.

excellent choice on the 2400 :) i want one next week myself.

ti4600 and 9500 pro are about even with stock settings. 9500 pro has more overclocking headroom though. not to mention it leaves the ti4600 in the dust if you simply use anti aliasing or anisotropic filtering. ( and honestly, why wouldnt you with a graphics card that fast on the games we have today, it will easily be capable of playable framerates with just about any game with moderate AA and Aniso on)

I say 9500 pro, and ditch the Audigy, that has given so many people problems including me. On board sound is simple and if it isn't good enough upgrade later.
