Ok, well a few months back I had gotten help on getting my own Gaming PC built (which came out amazing) and i would love to thank the community for helping me.. but now my boss is interested in getting a high end computer for gaming aswell. So he's stressing me  to help him choose the right things for him.. so figured i'd come back to the community that helped me out, his budget, is somewhere between 1800-2400. He wants a good graphic card, (no Monitor included he has one already) This is what i personally came up with (i have no knowledge if it can all work together but its somewhat close to what i had gotten, aside from the GPU, n SSD. (he fell in love with mine which is why i close alot of same items heh but if u guys can help lower price if i choose something unnecessary in here)

OR

Go to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127588
6950 2GB x3 $279 x3

and go to 120GB SSD (Agility 3 120GB 189)

keep other parts the same

$2366.

So for 2366

2600K
8GB Ram
1TB HD
Bluray burner
120GB SSD
1200W AX PSU
3 2GB 6950 GPUs (that mobo has an NF200 just like the Maximus)

Add another 40 bucks for an aftermarket cpu cooler. $2400.

Wicked case, bulletproof PSU, good mobo, enough power to run 3 or 6 monitors while gaming, way more power than a GTX 580.

Make sure you buy a dual channel ram kit (2 sticks ideally. Could be 4 but this is less optimal for the memory controller). Do not get 3 sticks. You had 3 sticks on your list. :).

If you want to make it look extra cool inside we can move some parts around to make $ room for some colored extention cables and we'll get you a case with a dual 120mm top fan mount so you can throw an H100 in there and say it's 'water cooled'. Maybe get a raise out of it :). That's just wasting $ though. Performance wise I say build the above and put like a Hyper 212+ cpu fan on there.

Running 3 cards can be evil so if you are not fully comfortable get a 6990 or 590 card instead. And the 240GB SSD. Same $. :).

Man, I wouln't build it or support it unless he has a clue. Give him a list, tell him what to buy, or find a prebuilt PC able to give him what he needs.

If the build goes sour, it's your JOB that can take the ultimate hit.

Please inform him of the touchy relationship between your NEEDED paycheck and the possible results of bad advice, poor build (it happens), bad parts, and his possible total ineptitude.

Be frank, but gentle. You can by a really nice rig premade for his max price, that would amaze any noobish boss.

Be careful...........poop happens.

My "Boss" is actually a close friend, him and I both we're gamers as children before we started our Electrician job lol.. We started a business together and he just decided to be boss due to the fact hes a married man he has a kid and lives a calm normal life. I on the other hand just Work/party/game/ hook up lol.. Me n him are boys so this won't effect my job and he is well aware of how it works with computers how parts can be.. we use to be into comps before we decided to start a business..

But yeah I'm trying to not get ATI or AMD... Personally i would like to find a better replacement for a mobo that works just aswell as the Asus maximus because he doesnt really need that great of one when theres plenty out there that are just as capable as IT yet cheaper xD

Plz no AMD builds (Once again this won't effect my job :) take ur best shots plz Unless you all believe the build i have is just fine. but i know this website is best for second options because i know i can save him alot by just downgrading some of the products i picked out (aside from the gtx 580 he wants Nvidia high end cards not low xD)

Swap the mobo in my build for a Z68X-UDr (160) and get 2 GTX 570s instead of 6970s.
I never fully support machines I build btw. If anything "I'll help if I am in the area". But I'm definitely not tech support. You have to be competent reinstalling your (everything) and troubleshooting exp. My service warranty is 'best of luck' and a pat on the back.

Almost the same build I just posted in another thread, just switched a couple stuff. Pretty in-line with everything suggested here.
Capture.JPG $15 off on the hard drive, check the Newegg page for the promo code.

+1 to Knu's build...

About the only thing I would change there is to a Vertex 3 and a 580 since he has the budget. No need for high end mobos and such.

I was going to put the Vertex 3 in there, but then I saw the price difference and I really couldn't justify it over the Agility. $160 after MIR vs $215.

580 over dual 570s. OP's choice.

Single monitor... no need for SLI anything... less hassle with single card/power consumption/heat etc...You dont give a noobile SLI/Crossfire. ;)

You're going to need a pretty high end motherboard for three cards.

What kind of motherboard would work with a 3x6970s?

umm scratch that lol doubt he'd want something that loud... since u suggested not getting the Matrix gtx 580s which one would you consider Knufire?

DCII is a better choice, MSI Twin Frozr II is also a great cooler.

You'd need a MIVE, ASUS WS Revolution, Gigabyte UD7, or Marshall Big Bang. Those are the NF200 boards for increased PCIe bandwidth.

WHY though... again...does he have 3 monitors and want to play games across all three? I understand one upsmanship, but thats over $1k wasted for no reason.

He wants to run games extremely good and hes into graphic designs aswell.. I personally have no idea.. but considering thats his budget he wants.. Me telling him that isn't gonna stop him from (1 upping me). Also wouldnt 1k be a good investment for future games? (Not sure personally just would think).

Yes and no..depends on SLI profiles for games. A new one comes out, it may not run right in SLI/Tri SLI.

I think that tri crossfire GPU is overkill for a single monitor setup no matter what you are running. Even if he is running a monitor with above 1900x1200 which is doubtful a single GTX 580 would do fine. I have the GTX 580 ROG matrix and the rest of my build is almost identical to what you mentioned. I am running a monitor at 1920x1080 and my GTX 580 laughs at everything I throw at it. If you want specific FPS in games I can pm you just let me know.

I would suggest keeping what you have in the first post and if he really wants to drop some extra cash he can pick up another GTX 580 later on for SLI. Also the GTX 580 Matrix I have will hit 1 GHZ so you can push it pretty far. He could also spend some money on a nice monitor like a dell IPS screen or someething with 120 hz for gaming. Its kinda pointless if you have a beast computer and a poopy monitor. He could also get a sweet fan control and you could redo all the fans in the case to lower noise and increase cooling becuase you are going with a heatsink.

As for the SSD I have the Agility 3 and I dont think that the Vertex is worth the extra cash. I honestly dont think that there would be a noticable difference in daily use although I am sure there are some differences in benchmarks.
