Buying "Asus 34 LED G-sync ROG Swift PG348Q", can my graphic card handle it!HELP

Hi, I want to buy a new monitor for my gamingsetup and have been thinking about buying the "Asus 34 LED G-sync ROG Swift PG348Q". But I am not sure if my graphic card can handle it if i overclock it to 100hz and use G-sync.

My graphic card i use right now is "Asus Geforce GTX 1060 DUAL OC 6gb". Can it handle the monitor? Can i use the 100hz overclock and the G-sync without problems?

Thanks for honest answers!

Arrek

Your video card is going to struggle at that resolution. My GTX 1080 does well with 1440p (2560x1440), and the resolution of this monitor is 34% more pixels than 1440P (which I don't think a 1060 can consistently run). I think you'd be better off getting a 2560x1440 screen and pocketing the extra change for a better video card to run at higher FPS. Depending on your budget of course.

Thanks for telling me that. Do you have any specifik monitor that you know are a good one? with 100hz or more? The price range can be from the Asus or lower. You seems to know best, what monitors that my graphic card can handle so any monitor you can recommend? i dont want to put more money on graphic card

If you want to stick with a 21:9 in the 30"+ range, look at the BenQ XR3501 and Acer XZ350CU.
Both are 35" ultrawides with 144hz refresh rate, but run at the lower resolution of 2560x1080.
The GTX 1060 would be better suited for one of those.

What about the ASUS 27" ROG SWIFT PG279Q G-Sync?

Absolutely nothing wrong with that choice, that is a very nice monitor.
2560x1440 resolution, especially if you try and hit 165fps to match the monitors 165hz refresh, might cause you to need to dial down some settings on more demanding games.
It also isn't an ultrawide, if you were looking to stay with a 21:9 monitor.
The 2560x1080 will be easier for the GTX 1060 to push higher fps/details than a 2560x1440.
(2560x1440 = 3,686,400; 2560x1080 = 2,764,800)

Yeah not a chance your 1060 could deal with that monitor decently. I had the Acer Predator X34 for about 18 months. I really hated the UW res myself, but I was mostly disappointed in the 100Hz and Gsync. I saw almost no benefit from either. My eyes aren't sensitive to 60Hz. To really see a night and day difference I think you have to go 144Hz. I was SLI 980's also so I was typically well over a smooth rate of fps for games I played. Your 1060 would see some benefit but I don't think Gsync would still be enough to keep is smooth especially in heavy action. A 1070 maybe.

If I were you, I'd sell off the 1060 and buy a Vega 64 and a 34UC79G-B.

This combo would be about the same price as the PG348Q and come out 100 times better.

So you think i would still go with a UW screen? Isnt that much more demanding for the GC?

Thanks for the answer. Yeah maybe the monitor isnt a good choice.
Yeah looks like a good combo but i dont want to sell the graphic card because i buyed it for like 4 months ago so it seems waist to just sell it off. What do you think, should i go with UW screen or with ASUS 27" ROG SWIFT PG279Q G-Sync?

Well impossible for us to know if you would like an UW screen more. To me more screen is always better, hence 55" UHD. Everyone's tastes are different. If you sit pretty close then a standard 27" is probably fine. If your 2-3 feet back I'd want something more immersive.

The PG279Q is an excellent monitor. It is getting a little old though and still at a premium price. If it was $550-600 I think it makes much more sense. Its price will likely start to come down early next year as some really good new monitors are coming out.

To bad you didn't get an EVGA 1060, could have used their step up program to upgrade it. I still wouldn't let it hold you back. You should be able to sell it for a pretty good price still.

That monitor is still a 2560x1080 panel, which is only 75% of a 2560x1440 monitor (what many refer to as 1440p).
With the GTX 1070 looking like the sweet spot for 2560x1440, the GTX 1060 should be able to handle that monitor decently.
There wouldn't be a "need" to upgrade the card to run it.

Well to support FreeSync he would need to go AMD which is why I would go Vega. It would probably be ok without it but smoother with it.
