Hey guys, my brother and I are looking to put together a gaming rig and we're sick of dealing with dell/etc so we're going to put together our own. We play dota and with dota2 coming around the corner we want to be able to run it maxed out.

We've got 600-750 to spend and this is what I've come up with, any advice would be appreciated. We dont care if its amd or intel, etc. Anything is up for change as long as we can get the most performance.

total cost: 716 - 55 MIR = $661

thanks a ton in advance

Are you willing to upgrade in the future? If you want performance NOW, you should go intel. If you're willing to sell your CPU and drop in AMD's new Bulldozer line when it comes out in a month, then go with this. The performance now option might be a little hard with a $750 budget, so IMO, this is the way to go. See if you can squeeze a 6950 in that budget.

You can use multi-GPU setups on that motherboard, so drop your power supply down to a 600CX.

Do you already have a copy of Windows?

i have no gripes about throwing a bulldozer into this when they come out, my mobo does support that i believe? i think thats why i was looking at this mobo.

i do have a spare copy of windows too.

would this 6950 be a good one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150524
it does fit into my budget :D

btw about the PSU, should i drop to a 600cx even if i dont have plans to run 2 cards?
