I bought 2 sticks of memory off a guy locally but my PC wont boot.... I think I got ripped off.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231456

Looks like each one is 4GB and equal 16GB total?

I only have two memory sticks... Are these worthless?

I have tried to only run 1 stick in my mobo and it doesn't post. Just beeps a few times and nothing.

It says 4GBx4 on the bottom right hand corner.

Any help would be appreciated.

My Mobo shows it supports only up to 1333mhz memory... I just assumed it would step down to the lower mhz by default.

try 1 stick at a time in each slot.
you bought 8 gigs of a 16 gig set.

try your old ram.

try a cmos reset to try to get it to pick up the settings.

old ram works just fine.

New ram doesn't work.

Doh, I bought 8GB of ram? Man, I got worked... I paid $80 which is about the going rate for 1 8GB stick. Grr....

This is going in a DL160 G6 Server. It says it will take unregistered memory... But whats currently in the machine is Registered memory... Maybe it wont take Unregistered.

well that's interesting TechJunky...

i just learned your HP server will not run UDIMM ECC and UDIMM non-ECC.

usually workstations and servers do not work when RDIMM and UDIMM are mixed...?!
