Good app to chop up videos?

I need a simple app that will let me easily select parts of a video to save as separate files. Nothing fancy, just the ability to edit stuff I record from TV. This should be pretty easy but most of these apps seem to want to do everything for me and I just want a video chopper.

Free would be good but some reasonable shareware would be fine.

Can chop AVI/MPEG files pretty easy, and even re-encode if needed.

Don't forget to select Video->Direct Stream Copy if you don't want to re-encode the entire thing as well =P
