Excellent thread.

I have a question about nLite - in the options section, on the patches pane, there is the option to enable unsigned themes support via the uxtheme.dll patch. I was under the impression that the initial batch of patched uxtheme.dll files would not work with the final version of service pack 2. I know there are later ones which work with SP2, but I don't know if they are backwards compatible so that's why I'm asking this question:

Am I able to use the unsigned themes support in conjunction with a slipstreamed SP2?

To make your own uxthem.dll. Patch your sp2 system with one of the uxtheme patching programs.

Restart

Copy the uxtheme.dll. Run modifyPE on it to make it "signed" then use the command line makecab? I think to make a uxtheme.dl_ Overwirte the one in your Windows CD source and its fixed.

(Its been a while since I did that though, I believe this method avoids the need to disable system file protection)

BTW you can do the same with the TCPip.sys file. (or msgina or the other one that has to do with themes)


@Rado. Do you make any of your own BBS for windows install?

What I'm wondering is if the one provided with nLite will work with SP2 final - simply because if it will it will be less effort than me doing it another way when a method is already provided.
