Hello.

Im having issues with a Sager Clevo NP8760 purchase from xoticpc xmas 2010.

Current specs listed at the end.

This laptop suddenly started not working, and when rebooted would give a black screen and not boot into windows.

I tried performing a system recovery of the boot files, and even a clean reinstall but the problem I am having is that the laptop is not recognizing the hard drive outside of BIOS.

When I go into BIOS it correctly recognizes the hard drive, but cannot locate any windows files to recover, and cant install new windows files due to the lack of recognition of the HD.

Its a seagate momentus hard drive. I got the info out of bios and googled win7 STxxxxxxxxxx drivers and downloaded the drivers, loaded them in per the instructions given on the recovery tool, and still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Here are the specs for the computer in question and thanks in advance.

Welcome back, haven't seen you in a long time. :)

You won't need drivers for the disk, that is only for controllers that it doesn't have built into Windows. Since it has Windows 7, it should be recognized.

Can you pull the disk out and try it in a desktop computer? It might be broken, even if it is recognized in the BIOS.

Corey! Wassup man long time no see :)

I have a different seagate momentus i can try in this laptop though if no software fixes can be suggested.

Not too much, just working on projects and "working" in general. ;)

Since it seems to be having issues reading the drive, I would start with a different one, if you have it. If both do it, then you know it is probably not the drive(s) themselves.
