I'm thinking about installing a totally new motherboard but want to keep my Windows 7 installation. I have read that using sysprep is the way to do it. Can anybody expand on this or tell me what is the way to go?
Thanks

Sys prep is one way, yep.

What board/chipset are you moving to? If it's the same, nothing needs to happen except perhaps install drivers.

With modern OSs, I've found that simply uninstalling the drivers specific to the components being switched out (ie: sound, chipset, LAN etc.) is sufficient, though one should always consider a fresh install on the new hardware.

Remember, though: You will need to manually activate Windows.
