So, is this a good deal?

No it is a horrible deal.

My suggestion....do some research and build your own computer...or at least buy a pre built one with better hardware for the buck.

I calculated it approximately and you can get that exact rig off of newegg for ~$1560. But as posted above, let us know your budget / what you will be using your comp for, and we will help you build a much better computer.

Okay then, this is a computer I found the parts through on newegg. $1753 shipped, and no water cooling. Is this one a good deal?

Case: Apevia APEVIA X-JUPITER-JR G-Type - $74.99
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 - $279.99

I'm going to start getting more into PC gaming. My budget is $1700-$1800

If you are going SLI, you need a 680i board. (Nvidia based board) The one you have picked out is a P35. (Intel based)

For the price of that SLI, you might as well get a single 8800 GTX or Ultra, which then you could keep the mobo you have selected.

Also change the PSU to like a corsair / silverstone / or pcp & c 650-750W PSU. (Or the 620HX from corsair)

Lastly change the DVD burner to the Samsung SH-S203B and you are good to go.

or it the op can wait till the 12th the 780i based boards will be out.

majinwar: Okay, I followed your advice, and replaced a few parts.

Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - $199.99
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 620W Power Supply - $169.99
Video Card: EVGA 768-P2-N835-A3 GeForce 8800GTX Superclocked 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

Which gives me a price of $1612 shipped. Should I go with this?

go with the abit board -680i board for 219. the asus boards with newer bios's are not ocing at all, people have to switch back to older bios's to be able to oc.

Wait for the 780i, it will have support for Yorkfields which the 680i boards lack. Also 8800GT cards in SLI are better than a GTX..

yeppers that is the board but i still suggest what i said in post 6 over the board(s).

How difficult is it to overclock a 8800GTX? Newegg has two versions, the 8800GTX Superclocked and the regular 8800GTX. I could save $50 if I OCed it myself.

And I'm not too sure about waiting much longer, so that some of these instant off deals don't expire.

However, the money for this might not come until after the 12, so I might have a chance to.

Just OC it yourself and save the money. :)

Okay then, that is what I will do. And then, sometime in the future (when I get a job), I will buy a second card, and live good for a few years (hopefully).

What is used to OC a Nvidia card? The built in NVTweak utility, or is there something better?

Also, what do you guys suggest for a monitor, preferably LCD?

Rivatuner is for the nvidia cards.

I just bought an LCD recently, the Samsung 226BW and I'm loving it. Check it out. :)

Your comp is looking good.
I would personally get a single 8800GT. One of them performs nearly as good as a single 8800GTX if eye candy is not turned up all the way. 9800 series are comming early next year..new stuff keep comming out, buy it from eVGA and you can step up to one of the newer cards just by paying the difference and shipping.

btw, check out Unreal Tournament 3..

i agree, get a single 8800gt and step up when the new cards hit. The GTX does give you enough extra performance to justify the price difference. Save your money and step up next and you will get better long term performance and lode almost none in the short term.

What are the estimated prices of the 9800s when they come out? I don't really have much time to wait, because this is insurance money I am paying for this with, and I don't have a job.
