laptop turbo set only to 2.3ghz?

my APUs turbo should be set to 2.8ghz and its only set to 2.3ghz
Bios is all locked so I cant set anything how to fix it

I tried AOD but I have no idea how to use that so anyway to set my laptop to 2.8 turbo?

That same CPU may in fact run at 2.8 turbo on other laptop models but for some reason the mfgr. of your laptop thought in not wise. Heat/cooling issue? Battery life? What is the turbo speed advertised for the laptop as opposed to the CPU by itself? What does the advertising for the laptop state? Those mobile CPUs will typically work on a desktop motherboard which is where the chip's full potential can be realized. For laptops they may need to be throttled some because of heat/cooling issues and battery life.

And no, you will not find a laptop bios that will allow you to adjust much of anything, much less the speed of the CPU.

it says turbo goes to 2.8
I really hope I don't need to RMA I already RMA my last laptop because a defect that it came with I don't think my dad will be to happy

How have you tested this for the turbo speed?

Have you contacted tech support at HP about this issue?

Is there a bios update that might fix this problem?

under prime95, Wprime1024 etc it maxs out around 2.3ghz give or take 20-30mhz
I downloaded BIOS update going to try right now

EDIT no BIOS update did not fix it

Try running Prime95 with only 1 thread. I'm actually surprised that it turbo'd at all with all four cores maxed.
