Looking for 23 or 24" widescreen for $200-$300 (general purpose + some gaming)

I currently have the Dell 1905FP (http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/ultrasharp-1905fp-19-inch/4507-3174_7-31232074.html) and will be using that beside my new one. I don't know if mine is considered good or not (for its time), but it generally suits me in terms of quality and viewing angles (although the contrast could certainly be better because blacks are too "light" when watching movies).

I'm getting a new one because I've seen how useful widescreens and dual monitors can be by providing so much more screen real estate, as well as seeing more in games (mainly Heroes of Newerth and QuakeLive, but possibly MMORPGs like WoW again in the future).

Any recommendations I should look into? It seems that 1920x1080 is the generally accepted resolution for a 24" widescreen, so I'll probably go with that.

I've only looked on Dell.com since that's what I have and honestly I don't know where to look or what to look for. The Dell ST2410 for $259 is my current pick. Anyone have this? What do you think of it?

Thanks for any advice!

1920x1080 and 1920x1200 are both common. 1920x1080 is 16:9, or standard widescreen tv resolution, 1920x1200, 16:10 is more common for PC monitors, although at 24" screens they are both about equally available these days.

Personally I would reccomend getting a 1920x1200 screen as that will support 1600x1200 very nicely if you need to run a legacy application that does not have widescreen support but I think you will end up spending a couple more dollars for a 16:10 screen.

I have used a number of dell monitors and so far Dell's and Samsungs are my favorite monitors. Wait for a Sale though. It seems like Dell has a sale every 2 weeks, and I know I have seen there 24" screens go on sale for $190. Also check sites for dell coupons.
