Sorry to bump an old thread, it seemed better than making a new one. I am new to overclocking, working on a system with a sempron 145 and 2x2GB of PC10666 DDR3, stock 7-7-7-21 at 1.5v. The cpu seems to be capable of handling anything I throw at it(have taken it up to 4.1 ghz, was stable under load with temps around 64-65, don't want it that high, anything above 3.4 is fine for me,) With both cores unlocked. If I keep it around 3.4 to 3.6 ghz only need 1.45v and temps top at around 57; under 40 at idle and with my regular usage stay around 50-51.

I'm having problems with the RAM though, have taken the voltage up to 1.65(have dual fans for the ram, is this voltage safe? its g.skill ram), can't get it to run at 1333mhz clock speeds at 7-7-7-21 as advertised, but can take it up to 1600mhz at 8-8-8-24,or down to 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15.

Will a sempron even be able to take advantage of higher ram clock speeds? Is it better to have it at 1600mhz with 8-8-8-24 or 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15? Also what do the drive strength settings do? Do they have any affect on stability/performance? I've been leaving them at what the boards sets them at, most things at 1.5x some at 1x.

Oh yeah, its an asus M5A88-M AM3+ AMD 880G board.
