Hey guys, I'm new here but not new to PC's. I just purchased an MSI Carbon Pro X370 motherboard. I was look at the qualified vendor list on msi's website and the fastest ram supported is 3466. I know they don't add everything on those list. What speed ram is everyone using with this board? Or Ryzen in general. Thanks, dyerpunk

With updated bios many are able to run DDR4 3200 anymore with the XMP setting. Some even a little faster but you really can't count on anything above about 2666.

It looks like many motherboards (300 series chipsets) with AGESA from first half of 2018 can make 3200-3600 and some up to 3866. In the same time most manufacturers won't guarantee more than 3200-3466.
AGESA from last weeks has some issues but it was released for 400 series motherboards and I'm not sure if the same is for 300 series. Issue is in max memory clock as most motherboards can't run above 3466. We can expect new BIOS with improvements soon.

If you are looking for a good memory then usually the safe choice is 3200 14-14-14 and better if designed for Ryzen like something from G.Skill.
Many people will tell you that Samsung B is safe option but it depends on SPD/XMP profile and motherboard's BIOS. 3200 CL14 kits usually have good profiles and are not so hard to stabilize up to 3600 (if motherboard supports that).
This one is on the list and there are a couple of similar kits that should work:

I can't believe and is that far behind Intel on memory speeds. I guess the faster timing is better anyways, some of the faster chips have terrible timing on them.

i heard memory using samsung b die is compatible with ryzen.

usually 3200mhz/cl14 like g.skill trident. you can google samsung b die memory.

someone says e die can reach that specs but i'm not sure most e dies can do that

Easiest way is to get the G.Skill Flarex 3200 CL14 works great. If you have any kits in mind post them here and we could likely help you figure it out

if your looking for rgb memory that has been tested to work with amd ryzen and threadripper systems. check out G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series kits that have model numbers ending in TZRX ,
for example- G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) Model# F4-3200C16D-16GTZRX
for intel it is model numbers ending in
TZR.
this is the cas14 gskill tridentz rgb 3200 for ryzen.
