Just got a new scanner as I finally plan on digitizing all the negatives I have laying around. The scanner I purchased is your standard flatbed scanner with 4800x9600dpi hardware/optical resolution.

What I'd like to do is scan the negative once in its normal position, rotate it 90 degrees and scan it again, and combine the two scans highest resolutions so that its as if I originally scanned it at 9600x9600dpi. I'm sure theres some software (or specific way to combine in editing software?) out there that can do this, but for the life of me, I cant find anything that would do such a thing. Anyone know what I'm looking for?
