NOW THE FUN !!!!
to assist the test, I invited Sarah, A Blonde living next door.

so I have decided to test all the top 25mm fans I got, and here are the candidates:

(CH) Corsair h100 stock Fan 92CFM
(AV) Akasa Viper 83 CFM
(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM
(SS) SlipStream 1900 rpm 110 CFM
(GT) GentleTyphoon 1850 rpm 60 CFM
(ED) Enermax DUO 1700 rpm 72 CFM
(CX) CM Xtraflo 2000 rpm 83 CFM
(D4) Delta Extreme 4000 rpm 150 CFM

I would like to add Yate loon/Panaflo too, but I don't own one. :(

I test it's power 2 ways.

1, Free Mount. on a Tunnel ( 15 cm long cubical tunnel )
2, Radiator Mount.

as I dont have advance airflow meter at home. (I have in the lab, but not going to do that there for that reason.. yet.)

and I test the wind speed in 2 ways.

1, The String test. On the end of the tunnel, I tie a string, and as the air flow, the string will be blown, and eventually consistantly stay at one angle. I measure the angle with a protractor. The closer the angle is to 90', the stronger the wind.

2, As the blonde next door to close her eyes. And I put the different mounted fans in front of her face. (lol), and she tells me which is stronger than which, and rank them in order. Reason I made her close her eyes, is cause I did the test more than once, I want to be sure the results are independent without her memory of which fan is which. (and the results are in fact, quite stable)

and in order... here are the fans in rank of power:

1, String test. Free Mount

(D4) Delta Extreme 4000 rpm 150 CFM
(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM
(SS) SlipStream 1900 rpm 110 CFM
(CH) Corsair h100 stock Fan 92CFM
(ED) Enermax DUO 1700 rpm 72 CFM
(GT) GentleTyphoon 1850 rpm 60 CFM
(AV) Akasa Viper 83 CFM
(CX) CM Xtraflo 2000 rpm 83 CFM

1, String test, radiator Mount. a BlackIce rad 30 FPI

(D4) Delta Extreme 4000 rpm 150 CFM
(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM
(GT) GentleTyphoon 1850 rpm 60 CFM
(CH) Corsair h100 stock Fan 92CFM
(SS) SlipStream 1900 rpm 110 CFM
(ED) Enermax DUO 1700 rpm 72 CFM
(AV) Akasa Viper 83 CFM
(CX) CM Xtraflo 2000 rpm 83 CFM

surprisely consistent..

2, Blonde test. Free Mount.

(D4) Delta Extreme 4000 rpm 150 CFM
(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM
(SS) SlipStream 1900 rpm 110 CFM
(CH) Corsair h100 stock Fan 92CFM
(ED) Enermax DUO 1700 rpm 72 CFM
(AV) Akasa Viper 83 CFM
(GT) GentleTyphoon 1850 rpm 60 CFM
(CX) CM Xtraflo 2000 rpm 83 CFM

2, Blonde test. Radiator Mount.

(D4) Delta Extreme 4000 rpm 150 CFM
(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM
(CH) Corsair h100 stock Fan 92CFM
(GT) GentleTyphoon 1850 rpm 60 CFM
(SS) SlipStream 1900 rpm 110 CFM
(ED) Enermax DUO 1700 rpm 72 CFM
(CX) CM Xtraflo 2000 rpm 83 CFM
(AV) Akasa Viper 1700 rpm 83 CFM

You will see the data.. is surprisely.. consistent..
While I will never use my Delta 4000 RPM (1.45A and sounds like my computer is SCREAMING) I have it there, just to have an extreme example.. that fan is clear a server only fan... I can withstand noise, but that's .. not just noise, that's an abuse to everyone in the room. :p

OK. so I have my new favorite fan list!!!

my choice:

(R2) Reeven 2000 rpm 106 CFM

very good static pressure. Noise level is decent. and great overall flow. At 0.52Amps it use a tiny less than the 0.53A Slipstream.

Alright, just a fun test!!! enjoy !!! :)

There's a blonde next door, and you invited her over just to help you test fans? That's my only takeaway here.

well. there were more tests involved that day than just the fans.

Hey neighbor... I have a bunch of computer fans that I need to test out, care to join me?

If that isn't the geekiest pickup line ever... Best part is she seems to have fallen for it, or at least that's what the OP claims.
