I want a FX-8320 Rig. I will be using my current older 8GB of 2GB by 4 stick G.Skill Ripjaws 1600. I will also be using my old HDD's and my PSU Corsair CX600 (which is still brand new) And my new HIS R9 270 2GB for the GPU and my Antec 300 tower. I can't decide on a Motherboard. I am afraid from all the reviews. I trust MSI and had good luck with my current GD65 with my i5 750 for 5 years. But I heard people having throttle issues with the 990FXA-GD65 over a bad sensor. And the Gigabyte 990 UD3 I hear about the throttle being fixed with the rev4 heatsink, But I hear allot of DOA and bad bios. But the MSI 990FXA-GD65 and the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 are both $128 in my price range. and show compatibility with my ram, I just want a mobo to boot up out of the box with the FX-8320 and run clocked at 4.0ghz with turbo off.

I'm running on a GA-990FXA-UD3 for over 2 years now(u can check the specs below) and I never had any problem with throttling so much for BIOS as well. Both MSI and Gigabyte mobos u mentioned above are pretty good so you can go with whichever u want.

Thanks for the reply.
Most Rig owners who have a 4 and 6 core CPU report great service from both boards. But it's the FX-8320 and FX-8350 that have many reported problems running with those boards (and many other boards). I saw a good deal on the MSI 990FX-GD80 for $169 and the Asus 990 Sabertooth for $169. I am a MSI fan. But I am thinking about going with the sabertooth if I don't find many negative reviews on it. I had my i5 750 for so dam long it feels like I am going to be stuck with it if I don't find something. LOL

Basically I can do this $189.99 i5 3470 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115234
$78.99 Biostar TZ77A http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138353
Total $268.98

Or this AMD FX-8320 $159.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX $169.49 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131877
Total $329.48

the i5 and biostar board are cheaper. and the biostar has good features and biostar is a decent product, they are just a very ugly product. But I don't care what it looks like inside since my Antec 300 has no window anyway. It's how she performs and looks on the outside. LOL

Thing is that you can spend the same amount of money but instead of AMD you can get an i5 4670k and a Z87 board( or spend a little more money and get a Z97 and be compatible with any future Broadwell upgrades) which will pretty much outperform both builds. If you dont plan on any serious OC/waterloop setup, then Sabertooth is just overkill. But what I would suggest since you can afford those 330$ is go for a 4670k and a Z87 board (ASrock,MSI or Gigabyte will do the job pretty decently).

How about this B85 board? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130699&cm_re=4670K-_-13-130-699-_-Product

I don't know I would like to go as cheap as possible. I just want something better than what I got so I can handle newer GPU's better. And be good for 4 years. My R9 270 is ok with my i5 750, But I can tell it's being held back a little. A ivy i5 should be good enough for 4 years. And the 8320. But your suggestion is very tempting. And suggestions help allot when you can't make up your mind like me.

Here is a decent Z87 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130695&cm_re=Z87-_-13-130-695-_-Product

And I like this CPU's Price better than the K model. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117302&cm_re=i5-_-19-117-302-_-Product
$280 seems decent.

If you want it as cheap as possible then AMD is the way to go but if you are about to spend 320$ for an AMD upgrade when you can spend ~20$ more to get a Haswell upgrade, then I would go for the Haswell. If u can spend 340-350$ go for the 4670k and z87 mobo or else tell us what's your budget so we can figure something out

EDIT: Just saw ur post. That's an ok cheap if you dont plan to OC and the board is pretty decent for its price.

I can go around $350. But I shouldn't. It could hurt me a bit if you know what I mean. But I know I can go up to $280 for sure without hurting any bills or what not.

Also I have a question. I noticed these newer boards have no ide ribbon plug. My DVD/RW Drive requires this. Is there a adapter or something I could use?

U can always get a 10$ SATA drive and no need for extra adapters and stuff. Now the question is: Are u planning to do any overclocking? Do u do heavy gaming? If yes then I would recommend the 4670k build. If u don't want to overclock then the 4460 is the way to go. It's all up to u ;)

I ended up not liking the FX-8320 very much, I ended up getting the i5 3470 and a Biostar TZ77A motherboard. Runs much better.
