the parts i planned:

2,4 GHz Xeons, 512kb cache

Asus PC-DL

550 Watt PSU (which one)

512 or 1 GB Ram, what i get...
(what´s a recommended brand for the Asus?)

Audigy Player *

160 GB Samsung SP1614N *

2x80 GB Maxtor & Seagate RAID 0 Array *

Chieftek CS 601 *

and 5 Papst fans (as good as Panaflo) *

the parts with the stars i already have from my old setup.

any recommendations? good setup?

I have 4 sticks of 512meg PC3500 Kingmax red pcb that works very well in Dual Data mode at stock voltages. Im running 212x13 2.5-3-3-6 very stable.
Newegg just shipped 2 sticks to me for $83.00 per 512meg.
The green PCBs don't work well.

You should be very happy with that setup.
1gig of ram was much better than 512meg but I haven't noticed much of an improvement with 2 gig for most things.

haven´t heard of kingmax before, but i´ll look for some infos

i am using two pc3500 kingmax 512mb sticks (from newegg---red sticks)...and they work to at least 210mhz in dual channel mode (i haven't tested higher)...and all at default (1.5v) voltage...

my board is a ncch-dl, so i can raise the voltage of the RAM...but with the pc-dl you only get 1.5v stock for the RAM, you will need to do some non-bios setting voltage regulation...that's why these sticks can be good for the pc-dl...
