how come the 7900gt is soooo much cheaper than when the 7800gt was released? is there not really much difference?

er - well, the process size makes a lot of difference.

going from 110nm down to 90nm means they can fit more GPU dies on a wafer, which means its cheaper to mass produce, and in larger quantities.

also, over the 7800GT, the 7900GT has 4 more pixel pipes and faster memory.

there is a difference, 7900 gt >= 7800 gtx, however it was cheaper to make because they went down to a 90nm die process which is cheaper then making them in the 110nm process they were doing it at.

Don't forget that they ware having ATI breathing down their necks with the X1900 cards so they needed to lower the prices to make the 7900 even more attractive.
