quick laptop question

I have this older laptop:

it needs a HDD and a screen, my issue is the screen. From the factory it is a touch screen, but i can't afford 200$ to replace it right now, so i was curious, you guys think i'd be able to just put a regular screen in it and save my self a whole lot of money?

I have never replaced a touch screen tablet/laptop before but I guess you can install a regular monitor on it and not put the touch input cable. However I could be very wrong...
