I'm on a tight budged for a laptop just going to be used for my photo editing class and typing papers, internet and that kinda fun stuff! http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4037178&CatId=1891 is what I'm looking at. looks like a real solid laptop but I'd like some input on it (being a refurb) before i order.

Refurbs a no no?

90 day limited warranty, here's the gateway information on it
90 day warranty
Refurb seems to be hit and miss - with many people having great experiences and some others having horrible ones. So what you're going to have to decide is whether you want to risk having to deal with RMA and etc (I would assume you would find the issues in the warranty period if there are any - and remember that cosmetic issues don't count). And yes, I know that doesn't help you decide much, but I don't feel well enough informed on gateway refurb to say more
Personally though, I would wait and watch the deals for a couple of weeks. Dell has had some really nice ones recently, although everything does depend on the budget.
