it's been a week since i got my new build. finally settled on 100x44 1.25v on the core.
now onto the RAM. it's a 2x4GB "green" kit from samsung MV-3V4G3D
first thing i did was go into BIOS (Asrock Z77 Extreme 4) to find it running at DDR1600 with 1.58V
i'm guessing this is ensure it post's with the majority of RAM out there.
goal for the RAM was moderate tight timings at low voltage with high stability. knowing gains will be minimal outside benching/encoding.
i was unsure how to proceed. i do know that some numbers are related to one another and if they aren't correct it will refuse to post. so i tried this method...
setting the RAM to 1333 @1.35v and everything on auto i went back into BIOS and change most settings to what was current @1333 then switched to 1600.
the left number is the auto setting for 1600 the red are 1333 settings.

<run memtest86+ 5.00b6, drop voltage .01v, repeat> got down to 1.2v and got errors on pass #6
bumped it up to 1.25. 10 passes without errors
i'm very happy with these settings considering the risk:reward ratio for any tighter timing or >1600 stressing the IMC.
