It's intermittent, but its really annoying.

I've done some research, and obviously "virus!" came up. I run a really tight computer, I don't download anything other than trusted programs, I don't use any social media outlets, and (lol sorry) no porn here. Basically forums, email, youtube, news sites, and E-Trade.

I run AVG antivirus, up to date. Firewalled and vaccinated with daily 3am scans. Nothing comes up. I've tried malwarebytes and spybot, both showing up empty.

I went through my startup databases, no rootkits, very lame duck open windows and drivers, thats it.

The problem seems to happen after running games, but I can't tell for sure. It may come AFTER the game, it may be during the game and I don't notice it, no idea. It eats anywhere from 4-6GB of ram, which, of my 8gb total, thats too much lol. The good news, I can disable that process, and it returns to normal, but if anyone has any way to prevent it, or knows what could be causing it, I'd appreciate it.

Take a read through this, it'll help you understand what's being imitated.

Have you done any scans from Safe Mode or from a bootable antivirus disc?

Yes sir. Im wondering if my steam is causing issues honestly. Im running steam overlay over non steam games, and I wonder if t hats causing an issue.

I'll give that a read through.

I haven't ever used the Steam overlay to advise on that, but it sounds possible to me.
