Faster load times is proof of higher throughput onboard video memory. Take a 128mb 9800pro (o/c to xt) vs 256mb 9800xt and Doom3 with both using bios 64agp and there IS difference in load times.

i have 1 gig of ram, and my 256mb GT likes 128 aperature. whereas my 6800 128mb machine with one gig of ram likes 128-256 aperature. at 128 i sometimes get hitching, but on 256 i get NO hitching. openGL games need a TON of vid memory. so if your card aint up to the task thats where the aperature comes in handy ;) made a HUGE diff on my 128mb 6800 with CoDUO and Doom3 ;)
