Quad SLI should work on both, AMD and Intel platforms, on any SLI motherboard - even CrossFire ones - with the basic requirement, that it has two PCIe x16 slots.
Its very clear to me, too bad is not vice versa :S there are more nVidia boards than ATi's Crossfire cards should be compatible with nVidia boards for gosh sake:mad:

Do you have a link to this??
It sounds like they are saying you can use SLI cards in crossfire mobos but not the opposite, of crossfire vid cards in an SLI mobo?
Or is it that crossfire chipsets are being made to support SLI setups and then SLI slots are added??

thanks

Basically that idea is a rehash of the main idea contained in these links

If the 7950gx2 will work on crossfire mobos then you can bet that ati/amd/daamit will patch that problem via a new bios if they can, that is if nVidia doesn't patch it themselves.

Also why would you want to run sli on a ati crossfire board even if you could? I could see wanting to run crossfire on a sli board but thats different...

It might be to Ati's advantage to allow SLI on their boards, as that would make them more versatile than the Nvidia boards that are 'purposefully?' locking out that functionality.
