The chipset does not support more than two sticks. If Gigabyte figured out a way around this limitation, then more power to them, but you are the only person I have ever heard of that could run more than two sticks of unbuffered RAM in ANY 760MPX board.

The gigabyte board contains a ICS chip like almost touching the last 2 slots, this is in addition to the clock generator which is also a ICS. I think the memory ICS chip is the kind of chip that registered sticks have to make them registered. They just put it on the board.
