Matthias, that is exactly what makes me think it's simply the battery.

I haven't had time to change it yet. Been too busy.

It's not the bios. This bios has been in this board for a year, it would have surfaced by now if that is the case.

Soldering the new clock on won't be a problem as I have an extra VP-6 laying around with a broken memory trace for spare parts. I'll just throw the new battery in and see what happens.
