In the United States there has been a change to when daylight savings time is in effect. Your pocket pc will automatically do nothing when the clocks change and automatically screw up your time when the old daylight savings time would have been in effect.

There is a Microsoft bulletin below. It mostly informs you to make your own CAB install program to implement a registry fix for this problem. Also, it only works (according to the document) for Windows Mobile 2003 devices and higher.

Fortunately, somebody else built the program for you. Source and Program links below.

When you run the program it will seem like an unspectacular program install. When the install is finished, follow the following directions.

  • Go to your clock applet and CHANGE YOUR TIME ZONE. Make sure it is a literally different time zone and not just a different area within your own time zone.
  • Hit OK at the top right and apply your settings. Yes, allow your apointment times to change.
  • Now, go back into the clock applet and change your time zone back to what it should be. Hit Ok at the top right and allow your appointment times to change.
  • Soft reset your device... not necessary, but certainly won't hurt and could help out a ton.
  • Go back to your clock applet and change your date and time to March 11, 2007 at 1:59 AM. See if your clock updates to 3 AM or if it mistakenly goes to 2 AM.
  • When finished playing around, set your clock back to the right date and time.
If your clock went to 3 AM then it is working properly with the update. You can remove this update like it was a program, there is an appropriate entry. Also, you should have a new time zone, GMT-8 Tijuana, Baja California, listed when you install this update.

Anywho, make sure to install this update before you potentially fall one hour behind... then ahead... then ahead again... then behind... for every year you rely on your PDA! :)

Also, I know that almost everybody knows of this update... but I still thought to post about it just in case...
