CPU: AMD Threadripper 3970x

MB: AsRock Rack TRX40D8-2N2T

Ram: 120GB G-Skill 3600 DDR4

Cooling system: Koolance ALR-4500C

PSUs: 2x 2000w FSP Cannon

GPUs: 4x Zotec 3090s 4x PNY 3090s

EKWB blocks on GPUs and CPU as well as the manifold.

Lmao that's actually a REALLY good question!! They shouldn't be selling more than one or two per person so this scalping bullsnot slows down. How the heck he got all of those, not sure.

I'm confused though... title says 8 3090s.... image shows 8 of something, but the specs show 4x 3080 and 4x 3090...

Kinda funny, apparently very few on Reddit knows what F@H is because they're all asking what this rig is "mining" :rofl:

No...you aren't missing anything. We're seeing the same thing. As i first said, the title of this thread and reddit thread say 8x 3090s. In this thread here at ocf there are specs listed (i assume they are from reddit?? I don't reddit much either) that says otherwise (4x 3080 and rx 3090).

Just trying to figure out exactly what im looking at! :rofl:
 
dfonda and whitehawk mention the rtx 3080 in the context of, "This f'n guy has 8 3090s, I can't even get my hands on a 3080"

In my post (1st post) I quote from reddit, but it does not mention the 3080 at all. Just two brands of 3090s.

3090s aren't too hard to get if you don't want to be picky about brand and model. Most drops I've seen for 3090s last a few minutes depending on quantity of course. 3080s disappear in half the time.



 
I think the general consensus for folding is that the 3080 is the sweet spot..Personally I do not want to settle for a 3070 and the 3090 is just too much bread. I would rather buy 2 3080's with that money. The theme of the thread was excessiveness...(Yeah, when it comes to fah excess is Good:))

Most folks would think a $700 3080 is insane...My wife still doesn't know I spent $700 on a 1080 Ti 3 years ago.:sn::p

Agreed. Look at an nvidia-smi output for your farm while its running. You ain't saturating the vRAM ;)

Modern, cut down cards with a couple of bad chips or just removed from the BOM would be nice but let's be honest, we're not a big enough market for NVDA or even AMD to care about. And yes, I was very lucky right before the crypto insanity round 1 and got my 1080ti open box for like 650.

2 months later I could've punted back to my 1070 and doubled my money dropping the 1080ti on ebay. Oh well. I just hope she holds out long enough to actually be able to buy a new card without resulting to scalpers.
