any slot will work but prefer 2nd slot (closest to cpu socket)

For maximum overclock try to avoid DIMM slot 1. I tested some Kingston PC2700 CL2.5 RAM sticks which do 7-3-3-2.5@205Mhz in slots 2 and 3 fine but in slot 1 the best was 8-4-4-3@198Mhz.

yes use slot 1.my friend is only using 1 stick and to hit 200 he had to use slot 1.

ahhh, that's contradictory! anyone else on which slot?
i haven't tried slot 2/3 yet but i'm running 200fsb on slot 1 with my mushkin, haven't tried any higher...

I have tried dimm 1 and 2 and never noticed much of a difference.I will try it again later today and report back.

I'd just use whatever gives me best performance..

However, if you want to do it by the book, it says that with only 1 stick of ram it should be seated in either dimm slot 1 or 3.

i have tried all 3 dimmslots: there's not much difference. so i put it back to dimmslot #2.
